The solvent is used to extract the oil from the pre-pressed cake of crushed palm kernels in the extractor. In the evaporators the heat evaporates the solvent, which is then condensed out, recovered and processed for further use. Similarly the solvent remaining in the de-oiled, solid meal from the extractor can be evaporated and separated from the solids.
